Christmas is here! The season of goodwill and endless Christmas dinners where ever you go! Every restaurant and café are doing some version of Christmas food!

On average, we put on around three pounds at Christmas. We all eat a lot, drink a lot and not move a lot! But there are small adjustments we can make to avoid the weight gain that will not stop us enjoying this holiday season!

The simplest ones are best ones – reduce the size of your plate! Our eyes are our worst enemy when it comes to overeating. So, by reducing the size of your plate, it will look fuller sooner!

Alternating alcoholic drinks with water! Alcohol is full of calories you don’t really need. By having more water, you will keep yourself hydrated, avoid hangover and feeling lethargic. Remember how tasty satsumas were when you found one in your stocking? They are packed with Vitamin C so stuff your stockings with them instead of chocolate!

The best way to burn of those excess calories is to go for a walk on Christmas Day! We love our Christmas walk and enjoying the tranquillity of the day! No one is rushing and there is next to no traffic! And if we are super-lucky, made we even get a white Christmas. Taking a walk in the winter wonderland is a wonderful way to burn calories!

Christmas is not about stuffing ourselves silly, sleeping on the sofa, and feeling groggy, but about spending time with the family and loved ones. Don’t aim to be perfect but to stay at the same as you would any other celebration time. Being consistent is more important than going from one extreme to another!
